Galatians 3 (Part 1) | Allen Freet

Updated: Sep 30

In Galatians 3, Paul emphasizes faith over the law, pointing out that believers are justified by faith just like Abraham, who believed God and was counted as righteous. He explains that the law was never intended to justify; instead, it highlighted humanity's need for Christ. The law served as a guardian until Christ came, and now, through faith, all believers are children of God and heirs of the promise given to Abraham.

Highlights:

1. Faith Over Law: Paul argues that righteousness comes through faith, not by works of the law, just as Abraham was justified by his belief in God (verses 6-9).

2. The Purpose of the Law: The law was given to reveal transgressions and served as a guide until the coming of Christ, through whom we can be justified by faith (verses 19-24).

3. Unity in Christ: Paul emphasizes that all believers, regardless of background, are united as one in Christ and are heirs of the promise given to Abraham (verses 26-29).

Life Applications:

1. Rely on Faith, Not Works: Trust in Christ alone for your salvation. It's not about following rules perfectly, but about believing in Jesus and His finished work.

2. See the Law as a Guide, Not a Savior: Understand that the law reveals our need for Christ but cannot save us. Let it guide you to depend on God for righteousness.

3. Celebrate Unity in Christ: Embrace and treat others as fellow heirs of God’s promises, regardless of cultural or social differences, because we are all one in Jesus.
